
It is entirely possible that the funny little interlude I am about to refer to is one of those "you had to be there" kind of things, but dang it, I'm going to tell it anyway.
Just now Tommy looked at me while we were snuggling on the couch, whipped the thumb out of his mouth and said,
"My bum is crapped"
--Which let me tell you, is funny when it is verbalized by a three year old in a serious tone. Especially when that is not what he meant at all. (And by the way, the word "crap(ped)" is not part of the family vocabulary.) What he meant to say was,
"Mommy, one of the velcro tabs on my diaper is broken"
Because you see, at our house "bum" is slang for diaper. As in, "You stink! Let's go get you a new bum." Also, "crapped" was meant to be cracked, or broken, in the broken English of my 3 year old.
